Rare Theo Ruth “Congo” prototype chair made in the 1950s for Artifort. Only a handful of this model were made in the 1950s. Artifort decided to go with a different model which eventually became the famous Congo lounge chair we know today.

This wenge prototype chair is re-upholstered with luxury anthracite boucle fabric. The chair is made from 2 pieces which can be slided in to each other just like the traditional ceremonial folding chairs made in Congo, Africa. This is where Theo Ruth obviously got his inspiration for the chair.
