Large bench by Dom Hans van der Laan, The Netherland 1960s

Large bench by Dom Hans van der Laan, The Netherland 1960s. Beautiful early example of the Bossche School.  The woodwork has copper nails and the beauty of the relative dimensions chosen is most visible at the corner of the bench. Original green/grey paint selected by specialist Wim van Hooff. Exceptional patina!

Architect Dom. Hans van der Laan was one of the leading figures of the School of Bossche, an architectural movement based on numerical relationships. This bench, from the monastery he designed in Vaals, reveals van der Laan’s subtle, minimalist aesthetic.
