Gerrit Rietveld Zig Zag chair by G.A.v.d. Groenekan, The Netherlands 1960s (SOLD)

Important ZigZag chair designed by master architect Gerrit Rietveld in the 1930s. This rare and highly sought after chair has been made in 1965 by Rietvelds carpenter G.A.v.d. Groenekan. It is made from elm wood with solid brass bolds and nuts. Iconic design with beautiful authentic patina.

Provenance: Originally owned by Henk en Tiny Kronenburg. This specific chair was bought for their 10 years of marriage anniversary for 65 gulden. 10 years later they bought another chair directly from Groenekan for their 20th anniversary. They lived in House Kronenberg (1961) in Wageningen, The Netherlands, which was designed by Gerrit Rietveld himself. They became close friends with Van de Groenekan.

The house is also illustrated in the book “Gerrit Rietveld – Weelde van de Eenvoud” by Arjan Bronkhorst Ida Van Zijl 2018.
